DO YOU WEAR A MEDICAL MASK AND WHEN? WHAT KIND OF MASK?

There is much debate on the effectiveness of masks as protection against SARS infection. WHO experts believe the wearing of masks is no guarantee for total protection against SARS as the virus may also be transmitted through the eyes and hands, if unprotected, and not only the nose and mouth.

The DOH recommends the wearing of N-95 particulate mask ONLY for persons with known direct exposure to a suspected or probable case of SARS, such as health
workers in isolation/infection control units and those involved in contact tracing.

Our field employees should discuss their concerns over masks with their District Manager and franchise HR business partner. District Managers are encouraged to
monitor their specific territories and check on local conditions at hospitals and other customer premises, and will issue masks as the situation requires.

TO WHOM DO YOU ADDRESS YOUR CONCERNS RELATED TO SARS?

Professional healthcare representatives who have any concerns should consult their Managers who will be monitoring the conditions in their territories. Vigilant efforts will be exerted continuously on the proper assessment of any risks. MRC/warehouse personnel and other office personnel should also consult their respective Managers for any individual concerns. You may also contact your respective HR business partner and any member of the SARS Task Force.
